Tampa Bay Chapter’s July 27th Fundraiser & Women’s Empowerment Event
Live Art Event & Panel Discussion on Gender Equality to Feature Internationally Renowned Artists and Speakers
When nonprofits unite, social justice marches forward. With the right partners, gender equality and women’s empowerment will be achieved. By working together to end the epidemic of domestic violence affecting 1 in 3 women in America, we take a necessary step towards achieving these goals.
CASA, the official domestic violence center for southern Pinellas County, Florida, is proud to have been named a beneficiary of UNIFIED, The Tampa Bay Chapter of the United Nations Association of The United States of America’s upcoming live art event and panel discussion on gender equality and women’s empowerment. The special event will be held on July 27, 2017 at the Morean Center for Clay, from 6pm – 9pm. A portion of proceeds from the event’s live art auction will be donated to CASA.
UNIFIED will be an interactive, live-art extravaganza featuring locally and internationally recognized artists and performers based in Tampa Bay. It will also feature an insightful panel discussion with influential leaders of Tampa Bay so we may all learn, interact and discuss how to drive tangible change.
“The Tampa Bay Chapter of The United Nations Association of The United States (UNA-USA Tampa Bay) is proud to have selected CASA as a beneficiary of our UNIFIED Gender Equality event,” said Clint Elbow, President of UNA-USA Tampa Bay. “CASA’s work in combating domestic violence is an amazing example of the work being done in the Tampa Bay area to combat gender specific abuse. This partnership between CASA and UNA-USA Tampa Bay is an example of the collaborative advocacy efforts for gender equality in our community.”
UNIFIED will feature an art installation by Ya La’ford, sculpture by Cecilia Lueza, mural by Carrie Jadus, sand cast glass by Marlene Rose, paint on wood by Tessa Moeller, 3-D Printed Sculpture by Tina Piracci, dance performance by Helen French and poetry by Maureen McDole. The panel discussion on gender equality and leadership will be led by Lorna Taylor, CEO of Premier Eyewear and Chair of TBBCA; Nadine Smith, CEO of Equality Florida; and Beth Houghton, Executive Director of St. Petersburg Free Clinic.
