As some of you may be aware, Resource Property Management has been a member of CEOMC (Chief Executive Officers of Management Companies) for over 25 years. This organization’s primary focus is to promote sensible community association legislation within the state of Florida.
As an extension of this focus, CEOMC has partnered with CAN (Community Association Network) for the purpose of offering community associations an avenue by which their voices can be heard relating to legislative issues. This partnership also offers a way for individual community associations to financially support these efforts by making a donation to CAN. Funds collected will be used to support the lobbying efforts of CEOMC, advertising and education related to proposed or pending legislation concerning community associations.
Currently one of the most pressing issues we are working on is the vacation rental lobbying efforts being put forth by national organizations. These organizations are pouring millions of dollars into their cause. For the majority of our community associations, legislation that would remove their individual governing documents authority to regulate rentals, would no longer be enforceable and would be replaced by State laws backed by these organizations.
The below correspondence contains a link to a survey relating to short term rentals and how Florida homeowners will be impacted. It is important that you share this information with your Boards and request their participation in the survey. Their feedback will assist in educating our Florida Legislature and afford them the opportunity to hear directly from their constituents. This survey may also be shared with individual homeowners for additional input.

The Community Association Network (CAN) is a not-for-profit coalition consisting of more than 30,000 neighborhoods and Community Associations dedicated to protecting and defending the unique quality of life for Florida’s 10 million homeowners living in Community Associations.
A major threat to the quality of life so many enjoy continues to be the proliferation of unregulated short term rental operators in our communities and neighborhoods.
For the last three years, the Florida Legislature has attempted to remove your right as a Community Association and a homeowner to regulate or prohibit short term rentals through your duly established rules and by-laws.
We believe your community has a legal right regulate or prohibit short term rentals.
That is why CAN is asking you to take a brief, anonymous Survey relating to short term rentals in your community.
The survey is 15 questions and takes three to five minutes to complete.
Our Legislators need to hear your voice. By taking this survey, your feedback will assist in educating our Florida Legislature about short term rentals from those who are impacted the most: Florida’s homeowners.
