History of the Paper
The Feather Sound News was born in the 1980’s and was originally named the “Sounder,” and was only distributed to the Feather Sound Community. Kathleen Carfagno purchased the publication in 2003. In 2005, she began the task of increasing the circulation. She started by including the Carillon area, followed by the Bardmoor and Bayou Country Club communities and most recently Seminole Lake Country Club was added. Expanding into these areas gave the advertisers a larger reach with similar demographics.
The Feather Sound News enjoys a diverse group of readers, it is delivered into over 5500 homes with an average income of $107,000 annually*. Because of the extended reach, Carfagno has also been able to give non profits and charitable organizations a voice they might not normally enjoy in the media. The publication currently works with approximately 30 plus charities and not-for-profits who frequently supply articles that help spread the word about the work they do in our area.

About the Publisher
Kathleen Carfagno – Compliance Officer Turned Publisher
It’s hard to believe that Feather Sound News is Carfagno’s first and only publishing venture. The pieces just seemed to fall into place and Carfagno discovered a new passion – publishing. Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Carfagno found her “new” home here in Tampa Bay in November of 2000.
